Audit and Risk Committee (ARC)

The Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) supports the Board in its responsibilities related to issues of risk, control and governance. The Terms of Reference for the ARC can be found within our Board Standing Orders.

The Committee comprises of: 

  • Simon Cunningham (ARC Chair)
  • Robert MacIntosh (ARC Deputy Chair)
  • Alison MacDonald (Member)
  • Stephen Ramsay (Co-Opted Member)
  • Julie Hesketh- Laird (Co-Opted Member)

The ARC meets six times a year, including a dedicated strategy session. 

The Committee fulfils its role through:

  • scrutiny of Revenue Scotland’s risk management arrangements
  • regular engagement with internal and external audit and examination of their plans and reports
  • monitoring management’s responses to recommendations from internal and external audit
  • review of the Certificates of Assurance
  • oversight of the financial reporting process, including review of the draft Annual Report and Accounts prior to Board approval

Through these activities, the Committee provides assurance to the Board and the Chief Executive/Accountable Officer on the effectiveness of Revenue Scotland’s risk management and internal control arrangements.
