NOTES TO EDITORS

  1. Revenue Scotland was established as a Non-Ministerial Department on 1 January 2015 and is the tax authority responsible for the administration and collection of Scotland’s devolved taxes - Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) and Scottish Landfill Tax (SLfT). These taxes came into effect on 1 April 2015, replacing their UK equivalents (Stamp Duty Land Tax and UK Landfill Tax respectively).
  2. From 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2018, Revenue Scotland collected and transferred to the Scottish Consolidated Fund a total of £1.8 billion in LBTT and SLfT revenue.
  3. Revenue Scotland has recently launched an upgrade of its online tax collection system (SETS), introducing a number of functional enhancements and improvements. Delivered on time and on budget, the upgraded SETS will allow Revenue Scotland to better align business practices, processes and guidance to ensure efficient and effective administration of Scotland’s devolved taxes.
