After nine years at the helm, Elaine Lorimer has stepped down from her position as Chief Executive of Revenue Scotland.
During Elaine’s tenure, Revenue Scotland has grown from a newly established public body into a mature, high-performing organisation. In addition to successfully administering Land and Buildings Transaction Tax and Scottish Landfill Tax, we are preparing for the introduction of two further devolved taxes – the Scottish Aggregates Tax and the Scottish Building Safety Levy. This expansion will double the number of taxes we collect and highlights our development into a trusted and efficient tax authority.
Commenting on her departure, Elaine Lorimer said:
“It has been an enormous privilege to lead Scotland’s Tax Authority since March 2016 and to celebrate our 10th anniversary year. I am incredibly proud that Revenue Scotland is firmly established within Scotland’s tax system and recognised as a high-performing, digital public body with a culture of delivering excellence in public service at its heart.
I decided that it was the right time to seek fresh challenges, and I leave knowing that the future of Revenue Scotland is bright, with new taxes planned and our ambitious corporate plan well on track, driven by a brilliant and dedicated team.
I look forward to embracing the next chapter in my career and the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Aidan O’Carroll, Chair of the Board, added:
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to express our heartfelt thanks to Elaine for her exceptional leadership and service to Revenue Scotland.
Over the past nine years, Elaine has guided the organisation from a start-up to a highly capable and respected tax authority. Her strategic insight, commitment to operational excellence, and focus on creating a positive and inclusive culture have been invaluable.”
We wish Elaine every success in her future endeavours.”
