I am pleased to present Revenue Scotland's Annual Report and Accounts for 2025-26. As we marked our tenth anniversary this year, we reflected on how far the organisation has developed since our establishment as well as the important role we play as Scotland's tax authority. It was an exciting time to join Revenue Scotland as Chief Executive during this anniversary year.
In my first months as CEO, I have been struck by the dedication, expertise and collaborative spirit of our people. My focus is not simply on what we deliver, but how we deliver it, ensuring that we continue to provide an effective, responsive and trusted service for taxpayers and stakeholders. Many of the principles underpinning Public Service Reform, including digital delivery, shared services and effective use of data, have been central to our approach since Revenue Scotland was established.
Since 2015, we have collected more than £8 billion in tax revenue while maintaining a collection rate of over 99 per cent and operating at a cost of less than one penny for every pound collected. These outcomes reflect the strength of our digital-first operating model, the commitment of our people and the productive relationships we have built with taxpayers, practitioners, public bodies and other partners.
Throughout the year, we engaged with taxpayers, agents and our wider stakeholders to ask for insight into where we are performing well and where we can improve further. This valuable feedback continues to shape our priorities and strengthen our focus on delivering a positive taxpayer experience. Alongside this, we continued to collaborate with partners across the public sector, contributing to wider efforts to improve public service delivery.
We also made significant progress in delivering our Digital Strategy. Investment in our systems, data and technology has improved the resilience of our services, enhanced our use of insight and intelligence, and helped ensure that taxpayers can interact with us in ways that are straightforward, accessible and secure.
Our people remain at the heart of everything we achieve. This year's People Survey results once again demonstrated high levels of engagement and commitment, reflecting the inclusive and supportive culture we continue to build. I am particularly grateful to colleagues across Revenue Scotland for their professionalism, adaptability and dedication throughout the year, which enabled us to deliver on all of our Corporate Plan outcomes.
As we look ahead, we will continue to build on the foundations established over our first decade. Our focus will be on strengthening organisational capability, making the best use of digital and data-driven approaches, and developing our next Corporate Plan. By working together, guided by our values and committed to continuous improvement, we will continue to deliver a trusted, efficient and responsive tax system for Scotland.
